BUILD 02 · MATERIALS
What can the chamber be made of?
Every material in the wall is a gas source for the life of the machine. This step reads the card, the sourced outgassing rate and the surface state it was measured in.
What already answers this
Nothing below is a copy. Each line is the surface of this site that carries the answer, and what it carries.
- /matter/ carries one card per material, with grades, process ceiling and cleaning
- /matter/properties/ sorts every material on one parameter at a time
- /tools/outgassing/ serves the sourced rate, its species, its surface state and its pumping time
What does this wall outgas, unbaked and baked?
The switch does not scale a number by a factor: it reads the base again in the other state. A material the base does not carry in the state you ask for is named and taken out of the total, never interpolated.
| Wall | Area cm2 | Rate in this state | Species | Uncertainty | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Austenitic stainless 304L / 316L / 316LN ESR | not read yet | ||||
| Oxygen-free copper C10100 / C10200 | not read yet | ||||
| Fused silica and borosilicate (Kodial) | not read yet |
The areas above are orders of magnitude typed to make the example run, not measurements from this site. Change them to your own and every figure below follows.
The base carries 1 of the 20 materials it covers in all three states, and 19 in only some of them. That is why the switch can empty a row: the reading simply is not there.
Not in the base yet
What this step cannot answer, and why. Every count below is read from the corpus at build, so this block shrinks on its own the day the data grows.
- unsourced 60 Matter cards out of 85 carry no entry in the outgassing base. Their card is complete on grades, expansion and cleaning, and silent on the vacuum question.
- unsourced 177 published rates in the base carry no usable pumping time. They stay in the base under their key, and no calculator here will read one.
